Those who don’t know me , I’m Jonathan, ex a.o of northants area and triumph fanatic.(also known as batman and Johnny farty pants..)
I have been involved in triumphs for over five years now ( and they still haven’t tired of my stupidity)
It all started when I got knocked of my pushbike on a roundabout one day whilst going to work. when my wife came up to the hospital she (Elaine) made it very clear that under no circumstances would I be getting motorbike lessons for my birthday.
So whilst trudging round Tesco’s I got reading a copy of practical classics and there she was, FUB 522T in all here prime looking good and shiny, so off I trudged, cash burning a blazing hole in my pocket and bought my first triumph.

Unfortunately the car wasn’t as good underneath the shiny paint and I had been robbed. Not the first person, certainly won’t be the last.
Whilst in drunken conversation one year at the MOT, I stupidly opened my big mouth and said that I could restore my spitfire to award wining concours condition in six months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What followed was a crash course in bricklaying to build a garage ( 3,4,5 thanks graham)
One very patient wife

Bottomless pit of cash..
Five months later and fubby was re-born and it was good, but all good things have to come to an end and we had to sell fubby due to imminent arrival of grace-may.
As many of you now, this meant buying another car YOB 901J, herald 13/60, which I quickly converted to spit 1500 running gear. and at three weeks of age we attended our first triumph event as a family.
Oops, in-between this or somewhere around this I co-owned a 22k mileage Toledo GWN , and an excellent dolly sprint UBP209T, but that also had to go as it gave me six points!!!!!!!!
What to do now, still need to attend events, family getting bigger ( Ingram mk 2 due 08/06/08)
So one e-bay purchase later and I have a pile of parts.....
In the space of three months I re-built and repaired/replaced enough parts to restart my lovely stag..yahhy four seater family car..
Of all the triumphs I have worked on, this one re-wrote the wheel....(only the dolly sprint starter motor being a more frustrating item to change if ever you have done one, you will know what I mean..)
So there we have it, I will continue to use my car at all times possible, even though some give their car a comfy life, my car doesn’t suffer from this affliction.
Some of the events that we have attend/supported are as follows.( if you are not mentioned we will come to your camp eventually, even notts!!)
Isle of Wight three times, mile of triumphs five times I think, peak run three times I think, Stafford lots, Lincolnshire camp only missed one, south of England meet will be third visit this year.
It’s good to go camping with the triumph crowd, and whilst we will continue to do so as long as finances allow(Elaine),it is always good when a big crowd of us go...

But what if you break down I hear you say...., well it’s a triumph, 95%percent of breakdowns you can fix by the roadside, the other 5%, you call the breakdown truck.
We have broke down a couple of times, but will never put me of..
That’s it for know, look forward to this year’s camping/triumphing.... Jonathan aka batman( Northants)
